Who built this

My name is Sahila Gupta. I hold a Diploma in Nutrition and Lifestyle Management, a 500-hour Registered Yoga Teacher certification (RYT-500), and a Prenatal Yoga certification. I have spent years working with real people — in yoga studios, movement classes,— helping them understand that fat loss is not a mystery. It comes down to two things: calories and movement.

I built Daily Calorie Check because I got tired of overly complex apps. Most people do not need a subscription or a 47-step onboarding. They need to quickly know what is on their plate — in real portions, in honest numbers.

What this site does

A tool, not just a blog

Daily Calorie Check is a food and calorie reference tool grounded in real nutrition science. All calorie values are sourced from the USDA FoodData Central database — the same database used by registered dietitians and clinical nutrition researchers. Portions are mapped to the way people actually eat, not abstract per-100g values.

🔍 Calorie lookup

Search any food and get instant calorie counts for real serving sizes — 1 egg, half a cup of rice, one banana.

📋 Daily meal logging

Log breakfast, lunch, and dinner and get a clear daily summary — no premium tier required.

📖 Nutrition articles

In-depth, evidence-based articles on calorie science, fat loss, and movement — written from a certified practitioner’s perspective.
